SAN JOSE, Calif. and AUSTIN, Texas, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. BEAS, the world's leading application infrastructure software company, and Motive, Inc., the leading provider of self-management software, today announced an alliance aimed at helping customers more quickly and efficiently manage their mission-critical applications in today's service- oriented computing environments. In addition, the two companies plan to provide an integrated offering and engage in joint sales and marketing activities.
Motive plans to incorporate BEA WebLogic Server(TM) in the company's next- generation management products. By leveraging BEA's unified, simplified and extensible infrastructure platform, Motive customers can more easily integrate Motive applications into their existing BEA WebLogic environments. BEA will use Motive's modeling technology to extend self-management intelligence to BEA WebLogic Server, which can provide developers and administrators the ability to discover and respond to changes in J2EE application configurations and interdependencies. As a result, customers can benefit from more information about their BEA WebLogic application environments to aid in faster, more effective upgrade planning, problem diagnosis and resolution. This is designed to provide lower total cost of ownership and greater adaptability in support of ongoing change across the enterprise.
"With the sharp increase in complexity, constant change and component integration associated with J2EE and new service-oriented applications, companies can no longer afford to think about application management as a post-production afterthought," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, worldwide alliances and channels, BEA Systems, Inc. "Companies need to deploy applications that manage themselves, without placing additional burdens on the developers who build them. By integrating Motive's self-management intelligence capabilities with WebLogic Server, BEA can help its customers reduce the overhead associated with managing increasingly advanced mission-critical applications."
"Motive is singularly focused on building software that can help technology products and services take a more active role in managing their own operations," said Doug McNary, executive vice president of corporate development at Motive. "This agreement can provide turnkey value for customers who have made significant investments in BEA WebLogic application environments and is designed to give customers the option to extend self- management capabilities to other complex applications." |
